I LOVED IT! The best concert I've been to, yet! I have to say the opening act was GREAT! The Republic Tigers were one of a kind. Very nice bandmates, as well! They just gained a new fan! Whoooo! Listening to Travis live for the first time was AWESOME! Everybody was into it, and I loved the musician-audience interaction. Fran did a nice accoustical ballad about turning 20, and he also wondered into the crowd to get an up close and personal view of his fans! Despite the fact that they didn't play BIG CHAIR (arrg!), this concert was UNFORGETABLE!
What a rare treat! It's been probably 8-9 years since Travis last toured thru Colorado. This was definitely in the top two or three shows I've ever attended! I first saw Travis open for Oasis about 10-11 years ago and was amazed at how they showed up the Gallgher brothers :)
I too wished they would have played "Big Chair" but the whole night was just completely amazing. The level of energy in the Gothic lastnight was so much fun, I had no idea there were that many Travis fans in Colorado. Shit, I'm pretty sure there was a larger crowd lastnight than there were for Oasis when they were here back in December, lol!
I got to shake hands with Fran when he came into the crowd and pogoing to "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?" was an unexpected experience.
Travis...don't wait so long to come to Colorado, we love you!!!!!
Wow. The show at the Gothic was amazing. I was live tweeting via Twitter and several people were messaging me how sad they were not to be there. It was one of the most intimate shows I have ever seen - and I have been waiting to see this band for a LONG LONG time... so it made it even nicer. I have video up of when Fran walked into the crowd for Falling Down, and several more will go up in the next few days:
I have seen everyone from Paul McCartney to B.B. King and everyone in between, but never have I seen a band that is so involved with the crowd. How often does a band member walk into the crowd, turn the mic off and sing with pure emotion while the fans stand mezmerized? I hope the word of these guys spread from corner to corner throughout the world. I am glad I had a chance to see them with my wife. Driving 2 hours away and standing in line for over an hour before the doors opened was worth every second.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVED the show! I have waited a very long time to see you all in concert. In fact, I was only allowed 2 days off from work to attend. I live in New Mexico and flew out of Durango, CO Wednesday morning to see the show that night. I flew back home the following evening to be back at work Thursday morning. I even got to stand almost in the front row and CENTER!! How awesome was that. Even though, I probably looked like the biggest dork singing my heart out, I got see Travis. aaaahhhhh!!! Fran walked right next to me as he joined the crowd and all I could do was pat him on the shoulder. (tear)The show was absolutely wonderful and everything I ever imagined. All I could do today was think about how great it was to see your show. My Aunt, who has never heard of you all before said she is now one of your biggest fans after seeing the show with me. Thank you so much for giving me a night I'll always remember and I can't wait to see you on your next tour.
P.S. We loved The Republic Tiger's too. They reminded me of "The London- Suede"
