A great atmosphere for Travis' return to Glasgow. Without it being the longest set in the world, every song was perfection, with Before You Were Young being a massive highlight. I love this song on the album, and i love it even more when they play it live! Although not actually a Travis 'gig', the mass singalongs for Love Will Come Through and Closer, and the massive pogo for Why Does It Always Rain On Me made it feel just like everyone was there to see Travis.
A touching moment was when Fran asked people in the audience to raise their hands if they know someone affected by cancer- nearly every hand was raised. It was pretty powerful.
This was a great gig! Had stood at the bar dancing away at everyone else (next to the TV cameras, behind the sounddesk lol) Decided to venture down to the crowd for the Travis gig though. Managed to get down the left side and much to my surprise I got right on the rail in front of the Dougster!! Funnily enough thats where I stood at my first ever Travis gig Xmas Eve 99 at the Barras so the view was familiar at my 10th show. Canny believe he's still wearing that jacket mind you lol
So it was almost a festival set they had to play due to the time limits. Always going to be a few songs that you miss but there you go! Tried to get some cool vids but sadly the sound was really crap quality. Dunno if it was because I was too close to the speakers or not. Anyway the vids look good but they don't sound good :(
I was fairly mashed during the gig but was having a great time and loved every minute of it. Remember Fran telling us that the Queen was in tonight and also asking us to hold up our hands if we had been affected by cancer somewhere in life. Think everyone had their hand up. As per usual (even though its not on the setlists!!) they finished with Why Does It Always Rain On Me. Pogo central!! Highlight for me though was hearing Before You Were Young. Was sad it never got played at the ABC gig but better late than never.
Can't wait for gig no 11 now!!
